Minnesota may be the land of 10,000 lakes, but it’s also home to an industrial fan sales powerhouse, Glacier Technology. Founded by Scott Clausen in 1995, Glacier serves as an expert in the OEM fan business. Today’s Rep Highlight features Glacier’s #1 rep and friend to AirPro, Brian Gordon.

Oddly enough, Brian Gordon, an Iowa State graduate with a degree in Ag Engineering, started in the industrial fan industry first as a customer. He regularly purchased high pressure fans from Glacier for the groundwater remediation industry and developed a strong working relationship with Scott Clausen, Glacier’s founder. Brian explains, “We used the fans for soil vapor extraction and air stripping of VOCs.” Soon enough, Mr. Clausen had a sales position that Brian could not pass up. Over breakfast one morning in 2006, Scott offered Brian a job as a Manufacturer’s Rep and this began his illustrious career in industrial fan sales.

Early on, Glacier began with developing core competency in industrial air filtration and expanded to focus on industrial and OEM customers in numerous industries. Covering the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, Brian says that the greatest challenge as a manufacturer’s rep is selling fans and working on fan projects in incredibly competitive markets. He notes that making the price and value work for everyone involved can be challenging.

We asked Brian to share his overall business philosophy. He explains that at Glacier, “we always play the long game – never lose a customer. We talk a lot about doing what is right for the customer.” AirPro shares this customer-centered attitude, making Brian Gordon and Glacier a good fit to sell our fans. Brian emphasizes that at Glacier “we do what it takes to keep customers happy.” Brian also adds that Glacier “wanted to sell AirPro fans because AirPro makes a high-quality product, offers great support from the factory—and that makes it fun to sell their fans.”

For reps just starting out in the fan business Brian offers this advice: “Learn how to network and make sure you build strong relationships with your principals and customers.”

When not selling fans, this former Army National Guard infantry soldier likes to spend time with his family at the cabin duck hunting and fishing.
